June 9, 2006 ~ CAMBRIDGE NY ~ Despite the rainy weather the
6th Annual Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival kicked off around 5:30 pm with a parade running from Gilmore Street down Main Street and down South Park Street
to Cambridge High School. The festivities continued on the High School grounds with Opening Ceremonies emceed by Beth Dillard.
The Opening Ceremonies included a balloon pilot introduction, along with keynotes from the Cambridge Mayor, Dan Walsh, and musical performances at 6:00 pm.
The weather cleared and blue sky arrived just in time for he 1st balloon launch of the Festival, around 7:00pm. Nine or so balloons launched between 7:00
and 8:00 with most landing just South of town, however one was spotted entering the clouds sailing East.
The “Balloon Bash” at Cambridge Central School included Rides, Craft & Food Vendors, and a dunking booth set up next to the soccer field.
Though the rainy weather during the day probably kept some people at home, the turnout was good and fun was had by all.
